Events and Courses

The Essential Skills for Excellence Programme (ESE) is a new management skills programme specifically designed for the modern Construction Industry’s business leaders. The programme covers all essential skills required by construction organisations to deliver ongoing sustainable improvement through collaboration. The course is aimed at senior and middle managers in the UK's leading Clients & Construction organisations.

The programme of skills modules comprises learning on all aspects of best practice and leading edge thinking on project & business management.  The concept is aimed at helping Clients to achieve improved value for money, and the industry to develop the skills necessary to gain both a long-term workload from the public sector & others and competitive advantage and, in so doing, to survive the recession.

The modules can be taken individually, with or without formal assessment.

Who Should Attend?

Senior managers within public & private sector Client organisations, construction companies and suppliers who aim to deliver value for money and long-term improvements.

The Benefits

The public sector has been mandated to use procurement of public sector assets and schemes to deliver regional economic improvements including:
  • job protection
  • sustainability
  • improved competitiveness of UK companies.
The Essential Skills for Excellence programme has been designed to equip public sector Clients & contractors and their key suppliers with the skills necessary to both procure and then deliver in all three improvement areas.

Since 70 to 80% of the value of most projects is in the supply chain, real benefits can only be achieved if the Client's influence through procurement extends beyond the main contractor into the supply chain.

The training events have been designed to provide the necessary understanding of still poorly understood principles, tools and techniques for improvements to sustainability in all its guises - economic, environmental and social.

Each course includes case studies, group exercises and theory with excellent trainers who will provide up-to-the-minute information on best practice from construction and other sectors.
